Involved in the Community

SERVICE ONE Members Banking deals with local members, we employ locally and it is our responsibility to invest back into the local community. We have supported local sporting, culture and charitable groups for years. While we are a geographically diverse corporation, with branches throughout the ACT and surrounding NSW we offer support to organisations with similar philosophies - organisations committed to enhance the livelihood and well being of local members of the community through cooperation and reform.

Our staff are actively involved with various social organisations committed to the ongoing support of disadvantaged groups in our community.

Assisting the community to get behind our home team - CA Brumbies

This year Your Family of Credit Unions' teamed up with CA Brumbies again for an exciting Super 14 season. Unfortunately we didn't get the result we were after with the CA Brumbies narrowly missing out on a finals berth.

This year we were once again able to provide local charitable organisations and sporting groups with home game tickets. These groups included:

  • Camp Quality
  • The Canberra Hospital Oncolgy Ward and Childrens Ward
  • Cooma Rugby
  • Tumut Rotary
  • Valmar Support Tumut
  • Tumut Apex
  • ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support
  • Cooma Athletics
  • Bemboka Fire Brigade
  • The Woden School
During two home games we presented half time entertainment with supporters given the chance to run out onto Canberra Stadium.

We also ran a competition for your chance to 'Toss the Coin' at the CA Brumbies Vs Reds game 29 April. The lucky winner was 11 year old Rhyc, a huge fan, who was thrilled with this opportunity, which also allowed him to meet captain Stirling Mortlock. Rhyc also received a signed CA Brumbies jersey.

Your Family of Credit Union Balloon

Bright and early, at 6.30am during April, plenty of colour and noise took to the skies for the annual Canberra Balloon Fiesta that saw more than 50 balloons launch from the lawns of Old Parliament House.

Your Family of Credit Unions' balloonon launched amongst a myriad of others. Ewan Roberts, our balloon pilot floated up and away on the day. SERVICE ONE Members Banking's balloon performed two flights over two hours, flying its passengers over Parliamentary Triangle, taking in magical views of Lake Burley Griffin, and the autumn colours in Canberra parks.

Canberra's Balloon Fiesta finished on Sunday 23rd April, but look out for the SERVICE ONE Members Banking balloon - it will be making appearances high in Canberra's skies throughout the remainder of 2006.

To book a flight on Your Family of Credit Union balloon call Balloon Aloft on 6285 1540.

Activities 2005

Tsunami Appeal
Your Family of Credit Unions' would like to thank our members for their generous donation to CARE Australia who provided emergency relief to the Tsunami-affected regions.

The Tsunami caused untold sorrow and an emotional toll we can only try to grasp. Your contributions have helped save lives.

The total amount donated to CARE Australia by the Credit Union and our members is $28,223.50.

ACT Brumbies
Through an alliance with the ACT Brumbies Super 12 Rugby Union team, Your Family of Credit Unions'  was able to pass on home game tickets to members across
the region, which they can use to bring the thrill of a world-class rugby
clash to those who would not usually get the chance. This was our way to give
something back to the communities who have supported Your Family of Credit Unions' ,
and to provide a little help and recognition to those who work so tirelessly
for important causes.

In 2005, Your Family of Credit Unions'  was pleased to have assisted various charities and groups such as Australia & New Zealand Maori School of Dream, Marymead Child & Family Centre, CanTeen Kids for Cancer, Queen Elizabeth II (QE II) Family Centre and The Woden School. The family who were given game tickets had a great experience and enjoyed the game.

Your Family of Credit Unions' believes this is a great way to give back to the community which support us and its great to provide the opportunity for people who may not otherwise have access the these world class games to experience the thrill and atmosphere of a Super 12 series.
